Pregnancy Positioning for Comfort

There are several positioning techniques that expectant mothers can use to increase comfort during pregnancy:

Side-lying: Pillows or towels may be used to support the neck, abdomen, thighs, and upper arm. This support helps maintain the normal curves of the spine and takes the stress off the joints of the arms and legs.

Three-quarters prone: In this position, the mother turns towards her stomach and is able to take pressure of the hips and thighs.

Three-quarters supine: Many women want to lie on their back, but are cautioned against it due to the danger of decreased blood flow to the fetus (baby). A pillow under the right side (hip/thigh) is enough to allow back lying without endangering mother or baby
