Happy Holidays from Our Family to Yours!

All of us here at Legacy Physical Therapy feel truly blessed to be a part of your rehabilitation team. We thank you for welcoming us into your life. We wish you and your family a very HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!!

Winter Foot Health
Our friends at Hays Foot & Ankle Center have some wonderful tips to protect your feet against the cold this winter.
- Practice good hygiene. Change your shoes, socks, and hosiery daily. Wash and dry your feet thoroughly everyday to protect yourself from fungus and infection.
- Wear socks that are made of synthetic fibers. This material will help against sweat and moisture build-up which promotes a great environment for fungus to thrive. This is especially important when playing sports. If you are prone to excessive sweating, apply a good foot powder. This will help deter infection.
- Be sure to wear properly fitting shoes. Most people wear shoes that are too tight causing themselves serious problems. Get your feet measured by a shoe professional to ensure the right fit.
- Trimming your toenails properly will help prevent painful ingrown toenails. Trim your nails straight across, instead of shaping the nail to follow the natural curvature of the toes.
- Dry skin is the most prevalent during the winter months. Moisturize your feet daily before putting on your shoes and socks. This will help protect your skin against painful cracking. Moisturizing with a hydrating cream will help repair dry, cracked feet, and promote softer, smoother skin.

Saying Good-Bye
At the end of December, Legacy Physical Therapy will be down one of its smilin g faces. Uchenna Ossai PT, DPT has been with us on a part time basis for all of 2011 as part of the Washington University Program in Physical Therapy Women's Health Residency Program. We have thoroughly enjoyed having her around the clinic and she will be missed. Uchenna, or UC as we like to call her, will be returning back home to Texas to work at the Women's Hospital of Texas.
We wish her the best of luck and we know that she will be a big success!!

Check Out Our Revised Website
January 2012 will be the start of our 4th year in business. We want to start the new year off right with a newly revised website. We made changes to hopefully make it easier for you to find the information you are looking for without changing the overall feel of the website. Our new home page now highlights each of our specialized rehabilitation services so that you can quickly navigate to where you want to be. We hope you take a minute to browse around the website, and we welcome any feedback you have for us.
